A Passion For Photography
It's weird isn't it; you spend a lifetime loving photography but it's only later in life the opportunity presents itself to actually do something that you love as your job.
And so it was that back in 2014 I booked my first wedding.
Since then I've captured over 300 weddings, won awards and competitions, been published in magazines, and got to number one (or at least the first page) of Google Search results for Wedding Photographer in Suffolk and Best Wedding Photographer in Suffolk and so on.
Like most things in life there's a time and place for everything; a hidden order that as we age we probably get better at reading. And so it was that I just felt at the beginning of this year (2025) that next year, 2026 would be the last one I'd actively look to book weddings (weddings are booked a year in advance). Ok, if someone enquired and was happy to book me then fine but the days of hours every day chasing, emailing, texting and being ghosted are over.
It's time to really ENJOY photography again!
And this has created problems of course!
I still want photography to provide some income yet I want to be free of the rigours of delivering what someone has paid for. I no longer want to ever chase anyone to book me; I want to set my own standards and styles.
It's now July 2025 and to get here has been over a 6 month journey; trawling through old photos, going out and creating new photos, testing new cameras and lenses. All in a effort to define this new "me"
So this new me uses a Leica M10 camera because it's unique amongst a sea of technically fantastic cameras. It's based very closely on a 75 year old design. It's simple; so simple it's actually somewhat of a challenge to get good images out of it - and that's it's beauty; where all the cameras I'd use at a wedding make getting technically good photos very easy the Leica M10 makes you slow down, think, analyse and be deliberate. It encourages you to see the world through it's range finder and create in a way that's unique to Leica.
For me it's easy - I live nearly a mile from even a small village so getting to The country" is a few steps away
Urban Art
Not "street" as that's focused on people in an urbane environment - this is the urban environment that may have people in
Abstract
The location is unimportant - what matters is the colours, the shapes and textures
